Our Special Events are fun and interactive programs that take place at the Active Living Centre. You will be working in a team environment, assisting in the room set up, greeting and serving a meal to the participants and clean up/tear down.

Training:
Agency orientation and position specific training for the event will be provided.

Skills And Experience:
Good interpersonal and customer service skills and keen to work in a team environment. Ability to lift and carry lightweight tables and chairs. Reliable, punctual, creative and resourceful individual.

Visit one-to-one with a senior in their home to provide conversation and companionship for a minimum of 2 hours and an additional 1 hour of phone contact throughout the month. Must be 20 years or older and be willing to give a minimum commitment of 6 months. This is long-term commitment position. Candidate must be willing to perform a Police Records Check and provide 2 references.

Training:
General orientation and information about the Centre will be provided at the Volunteer Information session. Position specific orientation to follow regarding the Friendly Visitor Program.

Skills And Experience:
Interest in seniors; experience with seniors. Good listening and conversation skills. Individual must provide at least two references and required to perform a Police Records Check.

Prepare, serve and clean-up hot meal, soup, and sandwiches for approximately 30 seniors daily in an industrial kitchen with a team of volunteers.

The training and orientation will include: 
• Agency Orientation • Fire safety • Emergency procedures • Job related tasks • Safe Food Handling • Receive mandatory orientation/training sessions of NYSC organization policies and procedures

Skills And Experience:
• Have a working knowledge of English • Some experience in food preparation • Balance and coordination in order to prepare and serve foods safely • The ability to perform all duties outlined in the position description * Provide excellent customer service
